The Craftsmanship

White Charcoal Production in Vietnam

Binchotan is a white-charcoal style associated with Japanese grilling traditions. KAOLA produces white charcoal in Vietnam using controlled carbonization and cooling. Process conditions and finished performance vary by wood species and batch.

KAOLA offers Eucalyptus and other white-charcoal varieties. Buyers should confirm species, origin, size distribution and expected performance against a representative sample rather than assuming equivalence to Japanese-origin Kishu Binchotan.

Traditional Japanese Binchotan Kiln Method

The Making of Binchotan

4-Step Traditional Process

1

Wood Preparation

Hardwood (Eucalyptus, Longan, Lychee, Orange) is carefully selected, cut to size, and sun-dried.

2

Carbonization Cycle

A typical white-charcoal carbonization cycle takes approximately 15–20 days before controlled cooling. This process reference is not an order lead-time commitment.

3

Controlled Kiln Operation

Kiln conditions are controlled for the wood species and batch. Final performance is evaluated using the agreed sample and inspection criteria.

4

Ash Quenching

Glowing charcoal is pulled from the kiln and rapidly smothered in an ash/sand mixture, giving it the signature white coating.

Laboratory Analysis

Product and Sample Specification Scope

For the identified White Eucalyptus sample in Vinacontrol report 23G15THQ02472-01, reported results include fixed carbon 92.3%, ash 1.8% and calorific value 7,728 cal/g. These results apply only to that sample, not all Binchotan varieties or shipments. Final acceptance is agreed through the approved sample, applicable batch and contract. Charcoal produces carbon monoxide: follow appliance instructions and appropriate ventilation requirements.

Why Global Importers Partner With Kaola

KAOLA has export experience in Taiwan and Australia. For other destinations, including the EU, product suitability, traceability, importer requirements and shipment documents must be reviewed before order acceptance. KAOLA does not claim prior EU exports or general EUDR readiness.

Proven Export History & Capacity

KAOLA declares white-charcoal production capacity of 180 tons per month and black-charcoal capacity of 400–500 tons per month. These are capacity references, not available stock or a delivery commitment; allocation and production schedules are confirmed per quotation.

Expert Product Consultancy

Discuss the intended menu, equipment, grading and fuel requirements. Compare Khaya, Eucalyptus or Binchotan through relevant samples rather than assuming one product fits every kitchen.

End-to-End QC Management

Moisture, ash, fixed carbon, size distribution and other acceptance criteria are agreed for the specific product and order. Inspection and any laboratory testing are scoped to the buyer-approved specification, representative sample or applicable batch; no universal laboratory certification is claimed.

Reliable Supply Chain Management

Wood origin, traceability evidence, packaging and applicable export documents are reviewed for the order and destination. Production and container-loading photos can support buyer communication; final inspection, document availability and shipping schedules are confirmed in the quotation or contract.

Why choose Charcoal Kaola for Binchotan?
KAOLA supports B2B buyers with product selection, sample review and order-specific packing. Technical criteria, applicable documents, pricing and production schedules are confirmed before order acceptance; no universal smoke, spark or compliance guarantee is made.
How do you grade your Binchotan?

We meticulously grade our Binchotan based on strict length and diameter criteria to suit different culinary markets. Standard OEM packaging sizes include 5-30cm lengths and 2-6cm diameters.

Japanese Market
  • • LM-000, LM-001, LM-002, LW-777 (Length 20-28cm)
  • • MM-000, MM-001, MM-002, MW-888 (Length 8-20cm)
Korean Market
  • • Large (L): 8-10cm Length | 5-7cm Diameter
  • • Medium (M): 6-8cm Length | 3.5-5cm Diameter
  • • Small (S): 4-6cm Length | 2.5-3.5cm Diameter
  • • Ex Small (SS): 2-4cm Length | 1.5-2.5cm Diameter
Why is Binchotan heavier than normal charcoal?
Finished charcoal density depends on species, carbonization and grading. KAOLA uses 9.5–10 tons per 20ft and approximately 25 tons per 40ft as white-charcoal planning references; final loading depends on packing, pallets, container and route limits.
What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for Binchotan?
Quantity, minimum order and any trial or sample arrangement are confirmed per quotation. A 20ft white-charcoal loading reference is approximately 9.5–10 tons, not a guaranteed payload.
Do you offer OEM private label packaging?
OEM carton or bag format, net weight, liner, artwork and any setup costs are agreed in the quotation. Destination labeling and applicable wood-packaging treatment requirements must be reviewed before production.
