The Art of Carbonization

Forged in 1200°C Heat.
Cooled in Ash.

True Binchotan cannot be rushed. At Kaola, we strictly adhere to the traditional Wakayama methodology to transform premium Vietnamese hardwoods into the world's purest carbon fuel.

Step 1: Raw Material Preparation

We strictly use premium eucalyptus wood sourced from sustainably managed plantations to ensure consistent density and quality.

Step 2: Kiln Drying (15 Days)

The fresh wood is placed in traditional kilns and dried using heat from external fires for 15 days, meticulously removing all internal moisture.

Step 3: Pyrolysis at 1,200°C

The dried wood self-ignites in a controlled, low-oxygen environment, reaching extreme temperatures of 1,200°C – the secret to Binchotan's exceptional purity.

Step 4: Controlled Cooling

The glowing charcoal is carefully removed and cooled in sealed containers. This vital step stabilizes its ultra-dense structure and premium quality.

Raw Materials

Sustainable Hardwoods.

We utilize Vietnam's rich, sustainable hardwood plantations. No trees are cut specifically for our charcoal; every log has already fulfilled its first purpose in fruit orchards or managed timber forests.

Lychee Raw Wood

Lychee Wood

Premium Grade

Sourced from northern Vietnam orchards after 20 years of bearing fruit. Extremely dense, offering the longest burn time and highest fixed carbon content.

Eucalyptus Raw Wood

Eucalyptus Wood

Commercial Grade

Sourced from southern plantations. The most popular and cost-effective Binchotan, widely used in high-volume Japanese Yakitori and Korean BBQ chains.

Coffee Raw Wood

Coffee Wood

Specialty Grade

Harvested from retired coffee plantations in the Central Highlands. Produces a mild, distinct natural aroma preferred by specialty dining venues.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Vietnamese White Charcoal and Japanese Binchotan?
Traditional Japanese Binchotan is made from Ubame oak native to Japan. Vietnamese and Lao white charcoal uses Eucalyptus, Coffee, Lychee, or Maitiew wood but strictly follows the exact same high-temperature carbonization method (heating above 1,200°C and rapid cooling). The result is comparable burning performance (no smoke, no spark, metallic ring) at a significantly more competitive price point.
Does Binchotan require fumigation or phytosanitary certificates for import?
No. Because Binchotan is carbonized at extreme temperatures (above 1,200°C), all biological matter is destroyed. It is universally classified as a processed carbon product and typically does not require fumigation or phytosanitary certificates for export, streamlining international customs clearance.
Do you provide custom cuts and OEM packaging for Binchotan?
Yes. We can custom-cut Binchotan pieces to specific lengths (e.g., 5cm - 15cm) and diameters to fit standard Yakitori or Konro grills. We also offer full OEM private label packaging services, including printed retail cartons and wholesale master boxes.
